its been a while

well today i have learned for the umpteenth time that hangovers suck. maybe learn is not the correct verb since i don't actually seem to remember this feeling when i am in the process of getting drunk. hmmm. now the question is...do we share this blog with the rest of the world?

i think yes. what say you wiso? can we manage to add something everyday? well this entry in no way makes up for the missing the last week, but we will do better. just not today. we will do better on the days when we don't have a hangover.

numero dos

while wiso´s adventures around barcelona today went less than smoothly, i would like to mention that for a smooth ride from placa catalunia to our front door at 3am the N2 bus is the one for you. cabs are soooo tempting but this is almost free! which of course helps after dropping too much money for dinner.

Organization of Spanish Immigration Administrative Services

Today I had the PLEASURE of being bounced around to 3 different office throughout Barcelona in the attempt to solicit my Numero de Identificacion para Extranjeros. Since I am student, I have a slightly different situation. First I go to my local Oficina de Extranjeros in the Montjuic-Sants area, they tell me to go to another office near Barceloneta. Once there, they tell me to go to an office near Diagonal metro. At all three places I explanined the same story. I am a student, I need to get my student card and extend my visa, please let me know how I can do this. Each time ..."go elsewhere." By the time I got to the last place (sorry, specifics about each place will come) it was closed.

I learned that I had a size 57 head, and that my local hat shop has been open for over 100 years!

l´eixample

today i learned that it takes roughly an hour to walk at a leisurely pace from glories to paral-lel. this does not include the time it takes to stop for coffee and time at the internet cafe. be careful in l´eixample because it is easy to get turned around. while i actually knew this from last monday, it also applies to today since mondays are furniture dumping days in l´eixample. so i will be scavenging the boulevards for dumped furniture...chairs and a table for the terrace please. who needs freecycle when there are sidewalks full of stuff once a week?!

cerveza beer, one more thing...

By the way, this tap caña ia 2 euritos as opposed to the 1 euro cerveza beer price. Might be worth it as who knows what kind of heating and cooling cerveza-beer latas go through before you drink it. But I guess anyone (myself included) who is purchasing a can of beer off some guy in the street is not really looking to savour the beer. Beggars cannot be choosers and you definitely get what you pay for.

cerveza beer

well it may count as today since it was in the wee hours of the morn, but we learned that one can purchase beer from a barrell at a hole in the wall place on las ramblas. it is the tap equivilant to hand beers. dont remember where exactly but towards the drassanes end. enjoy.

los baños

today we learned that sepia a la plancha covered in garlic and parsley sauce with cañas is damn good. much better than navajas and cheaper. we also learned that there are public wc´s in la boqueria and that you can buy capers by the kilo from the olive vendors.

wiso forgot to mention on the last entry that the buses for the airport only leave every half hour so don´t miss it! sorry we don´t have the schedule.

ciao. m
